Tornado Season is here! Here are some tips for getting yourself ready for a busy storm season.
To prepare for a tornado, make sure you have identified a safe place in your home where household members and pets can gather. This may include a basement, storm cellar, or interior room on the lowest floor with no windows.
If you live in a high-rise building, it's important to know where to go during a tornado. Look for a hallway in the center of the building, as you may not have enough time to go to the lowest floor.
If you live in a mobile home, it's crucial to have a plan for where to seek shelter during a tornado. Identify a safe place in a nearby sturdy building, and make it your go-to spot. If your mobile home park has a designated shelter, that should be your first choice. Keep in mind that no mobile home, regardless of its configuration, is truly safe in a tornado.
